I have some really interesting stories but none that are general enough to report on this blog, unfortunately.
Follow me on twitter if you're wondering where I am.
It's kind of a bummer, but teacher blogging just seems too risky these days.

That is so sad because your blogs are wonderful! Please reconsider. Free speech and all that. Just do not identify people and places. If need be, start another blog and let us know somehow......
I would love to know how you mean risky, but perhaps it's obvious why you can't answer!
Interesting tho, nonetheless!
Freedom of speech? Freedom to receive information? As long as you do not reveal students' identities, you should be allowed to write. What are the powers-to-be afraid of? The truth?
Where are you?
It's not that I've been threatened or "talked to" or anything like that, but as I get older, it just doesn't seem prudent. Would a parent like to see a story about their child on the internet, even if it's a classroom-related story and not bad in any way and even if the student is anonymous? They could recognize the details... would that be appropriate or wise?
I feel like I can still discuss educational policy or more general items, but these are definitely less inspirational to me and less fun to write about.
For example, I have a wonderful kid who I have taught and coached for the last four years, and I like the kid like he's my own nephew or something, and I could write a really moving essay about how his failure of four classes this last report card is killing me inside because it means that his scholarship he earned is defunct and because it means he can't play for me this season, and I could write much more about it, but it just doesn't seem right.
I'll continue to write as I feel like I can or should.
I think you are wise to protect yourself. I dont get to read about your interesting days, but seeing what is happening these days, it is in your best interest

I am a first year English teacher and am said to have discovered your blog as its coming to an end. I understand, though, why it's so risky. That said, I'll be reading a lot of your old posts for inspiration, guidance, etc.
I am a first year high-school English teacher and just stumbled upon your blog the other day (while researching Persepolis and considering it for next year with tenth graders). Sad you won't be writing as much anymore, but I also understand your reasoning. That being said, I'll be reading some of your old posts to get me through my days.
I'm sorry to have stumbled on your blog just as your scaling back, though as a first year English teacher I understand your concerns. I'll definitely spend some time looking over your old entries.
