Nothing major yet. Just some minor annoyances:
1. Wow. It's really hard to keep a whole house clean. Particularly for me.
2. I can't figure out how to get my toilet to quit running. I've fiddled with it and fiddled with it but, sometimes - I'd say once every 4-5 flushes - it will catch on something (not sure what) and periodically run for about a minute.
3. I tried to put a shelf above the said toilet and ended up just putting two unsightly holes in my wall. A picture covered one of them.
4. My garden hose split for no apparent reason. It's about 2 weeks old, but has had plenty of use. Not sure if I have the receipt and not sure if I could return it if I did. I'm going to try duct tape.
5. I can't wait for recycling to be once a week. I have so much recycling that it's a huge project just to move it down every two weeks - when I remember.

My first home repair was the toilet valve that wouldn't stop leaking-I wound up replacing the whole thing. I felt like Inspector Clousseau, tighten, flush, listen, loosen, flush, listen, and the damn thing kept leaking.
My first house was 25 yrs ago:
1. No help here - let me know the secret when you find out.
2. New insides to toilets are cheap and easy to replace - fixing floats and what's hanging up the chain is a pain. Just replace the guts.
3. Drywall anchors are the only way to go (unless you're mounting to a tile wall, then you need concrete anchors). The self-drilling plastic ones are the best IMO.
4. Duct tape won't work on a hose. Cut out the split section and buy a hose splicer, but the place you bought the hose from should replace it. Splicers end up failing eventually.
Homes = work, but I can't imagine living any other way. Have fun.
The solution for #1 is easy! Just get married. You also get the side benefit of having someone to make you a sandwich whenevr you want!
You'll get a tax break, too.
