Update

I keep getting a lot of requests for the new/private blog, so I need to let everyone know that I haven't given the address to anyone yet. Not to my friend from all the way back to middle school, not to people around the country who have read for years. There are only two entries there and I'm not into writing there just yet. Partly it's a function of being very, very busy. The Summer Shakespeare Institute has been good so far, but also tough, especially the commuting part; I'm often getting just a few hours a sleep a night.

Life is good, though, and I'm not blogging anywhere else at the moment except for Humbly I Tried to Learn, More Humbly Did I Teach blog. Maybe in August I'll get around to the other one, and then let everyone know. Feel free to continue e-mailing me (epiphanyinbaltimore@gmail.com) requests to be let in on it once it's ready. Or "if" it's ready. I'm keeping them all in my inbox and haven't even replied to anyone yet. Just no time, it seems.

This blog will end in a couple of weeks. I'm getting enough hits over at the other one now where I'm pretty sure most people know about it.

Another update along the slide to oblivion

Hi. I just wanted to offer a quick update.

I've been away for a week, visiting family in Michigan, as well as away from much computer access, and returned to find a lot of requests for the new personal blog in my mailbox and in the comments. I'll get to them soon. I haven't told anyone the address yet, and only have a couple of entries there. I'll start sharing when there's something worth sharing. Once again, if you want the address to my anonymous blog, you can email me at epiphanyinbaltimore@gmail.com. I may lock it permanently and give out a password, or maybe I'll just leave it be - it's not like I'm going to be writing about doing blow in the bathroom or anything. I'd just like it to be more of a sounding board, something like this thing was five years ago. Maybe I'll even go away from the word "blog" there and call it a journal. Obviously, I'm still figuring out a little bit about how that one is going to work, and I don't really have much rush right now.

I did, however, just write another entry at the BmoreTeach blog, the one with the long-ish, sort of unwieldly title that nonetheless I like just fine (Humbly I tried to learn, more humbly did I teach: Dispatches from the Land of the Puzzle Palace). All things classroom related (in the broadest sense, from classroom stories to educational political issues to the goings-on in the BCPSS) will now be there, but not the personal details about my life or my waiting tables job or my finances (credit score just broke 700, by the way - I'm almost ready for a starter house) or anything like that. Currently, I'm thinking and writing a lot about the Shakespeare Folger Institute I'll be starting on Sunday in Washington, DC. I do expect to be writing at that blog address most days this summer, and moreso when things happen during the school year or even in the summer in the BCPSS. Please update your links and all that. I'll try to think about adding it to some sites I know this blog was on.

It's back to reading Much Ado About Nothing.

I'm going to lock this blog sometime in the next few weeks, but I don't see any big rush. I'll probably continue to write little missives here until I do so, just sort of reminding and pointing people to the new site. I'm feeling pretty good about the decision.

In the meantime, you'll be happy to know that my good friend and fellow BCPSS teacher Kate has started blogging again at Thoughts, Wants, Prayers, and People. She's a great writer and offers a really interesting perspective of teaching in an urban high school while in a wheelchair. This is my favorite entry of hers (I coached the kid she writes about, a little at least, and I we exchange pleasantries at the Stadium Place YMCA fairly often), but the whole thing is pretty damn good.
