Last night, I wrote a long post about fitness and my dog running away (he's back now), complete with before and after and after that photos of me, but then I pulled it down, unable to expose myself on the Internet anymore, I guess. Or at least I was last night. Those of you on Blogtimore can still see the post in the feed, for at least a little while longer.
I'm just not feeling blogging lately. I've got lots of cool stories lately, but because I have no anonymity anymore, I've stepped back. My blog is certainly not as interesting as it once was, and I don't really know if I have it in me to throw it all out there anymore.
This is yet another existential dilemma with the blog, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it. In the meantime, you should probably go read Inside Ed, where I've posted a bit lately. And tomorrow I might have something more interesting to say.

I saw your original post, but I read my blogs in a reader. When I went to your post to make a comment, I noticed it was gone. I'm glad you posted about it though, so that I can make my original comment. I just wanted to tell you that it was nice to put a face to a blog that I read. And to comment on this post - I think you have really interesting things to say - I look forward to your posts. I do understand about the anonymity, thing though. If you go look at my blog, you'll no identifying information, nor any links to blogs that I use in my classroom.
I do hope you'll continue to blog here, though.
Your post is gone from Blogtimore now, but I did see it and was surprised that you put yourself and others out there like you did. While you might not be as anonymous as you'd like anymore you're way more anonymous than that post let on.
I was going to comment and tell you to take it very slowly when it comes to running, especially if you have weight to lose. I'm no expert by any means, but I usually suggest people get to within 10-15 lbs. of their goal weight before even starting to run. There's just too much risk of injury to really go at it carrying too much extra weight. And if you've already been injured you don't want to take a chance aggravating it.
And even then, never increase your distance more than 10% per week. But to help drive you, find a 5K race to run somewhere down the line in the mid to late fall, register for it, and work your way to being able to complete it without stopping. Having races on the horizon is pretty much the only thing that keeps me going sometimes.
Also interested to hear your opinion regarding Alonzo's decree that elite city magnet schools can no longer transfer poor students out very easily (if at all... I don't know the exact particulars), but maybe you piped up on the Inside Ed blog regarding that.
Keep writing. I'm a fan.
SO new kid on the block funky bunch are you married yet?

Eight years of blogging and you're ready to give it up now? But I've only just started reading and I find it very inspiring. I have a feeling that maybe my kids' teachers are caring and thoughtful people, but I never really get a chance to know them - those report card conferences always feel like uncomfortable dates where both sides are trying to impress each other. I'd like to think that they share some of the same feelings that you express on your blog. I hope that they care about my kids the way you care about your students.
On the other hand and I can see being tired of it. With a busy life, if blogging is something you're doing out of a sense of obligation rather than something you enjoy, why do it?
I'm not sure what you mean about having no anonymity anymore. I might be able to take a guess at your school, but unless I were to dig (which would be rude) I have no name or image to associate with you.
Either way, thanks for posting what you have and for making the BCPSS better.
I miss reading about your social life, emotional life and health, exercise and weight struggles and successes now that you mostly just write about school, basesball and the election. Teaching, waiting and taking classes was more interesting in the context of your whole life. I still read your blog, however, and I'm sorry I missed the Baltimore blog where, I guess, I could have caught up with the rest of the news about your life, which Polish girl had recently caught your eye, etc.!
