One of my favorite types of days - the weather forecast is calling for snow, and not only snow, but the perfect kind of snow for a snow day. In other words, the type of snow that comes after midnight and then freezes over.
The city sent over paychecks in anticipation of the weather and a possible snow day. Just about everyone is expecting one.
We'll see what happens. I sure wish this weather turn wasn't happening a week before baseball season starts, though.

Yes, let it snow. It'll be a cruel joke, however, if somehow North Avenue STILL decides to keep schools open after a significant storm. It's happened before. I could tell you stories, but this is your blog LOL
And you're right about playing conditions on BCPSS fields after serious snow. I think one spring season was so bad that we had 3/4 game weeks most of the season after a pretty bad March.
I'm reading Jack Canfield's "Success Principles." There is a quote that reminded me of what you're trying to do there at the school:
"I'm a very ordinary fellow who made one smart move. I would not allow today's educational fiasco of systemized mediocrity and uniformity to crush me into the robot so many potentially good teachers become. I kept my own spirit and personal passions alive in my class, and as a lover of Shakespeare have passed on that excitement to eager young minds. In my school's neighborhood of failure and despair, success and excellence have become the standard rather than the exception to the rule. And best of all, the kids and I have a helluva good time working so hard and climing to great heights. It's a wonderful life." - Rafe Esquith.
Keep on passing on that August Wilson and all the other fine literature that you teach there. And just as importantly, keep on passing on your passion. I do believe that whatever those less-than-stellar students issues are, they'll come around as you keep on doing what you believe in.
