Adulthood and grad school

Tonight, for the first time in four months of living in the new place, I used the stovetop. Macaroni and cheese. I can't ever make anything normal, though, and added asparagus and jalapeno peppers. Jalpeno peppers make everything better. Maybe, someday, I'll use the actual oven.

Today, I was denied a $1,000 loan from MECU to pay for my class. This is despite the fact that I have no outstanding credit card debts, have worked for the city for six years, offered direct payroll deducation as my payback method, and am taking the course basically so I can stay certified and keep my job. I really don't understand it. Perhaps it was the type of loan; after I found out, I applied for a credit card instead of a "personal loan for education". I've generally hated the service MECU has offered in my six years here, but there doesn't seem to be a better alternative. But this sort of thing just makes it feel like I'll never have a house. I wish I was given some sort of explanation.

Class did not get any better today, but at least it is amusing to sit back and ponder how this class is actually graduate school and helping me get a Master's degree. We're doing work that I would be disappointed to get from 9th grade students. When we read an article, she chunks it into four or five groups, and then we read it to ourselves, and our job is just to summarize - not synthesize, not analyze, nothing. I acted annoyed when I talked with her today in class, which I didn't mean to, so today I will just try to contribute when I'm not annoyed. That will be difficult. I can't wait to blog more specifically about this ridiculous class once my "A" is safely in my student record.

One good thing about class is being able to make my "Top 200 Songs of All-Time" list. I made 235 today, so I think it might be a list of 300 instead. 300 makes more sense, since it's a multiple of 30, and I am doing this for my birthday next month.
