I know my Tigers are up 9-0 to you right now, and I feel a little bit bad, but we really need this game. Heck, we need to sweep. Our magical season has gotten ugly in a hurry, and we need to get ourselves right. I'm hoping you're our medicine.
If it helps, I think Hayden Penn is going to be real good someday. As a Tigers fan, I've suffered through much worse than you all have (come talk to me after six more years of losing), and part of that suffering involves watching talented young pitchers struggle - because the toil does bear fruit, eventually. Just ask Jeremy Bonderman, Mike Maroth, and Nate Robertson. However, Justin Verlander missed the memo that you're supposed to suck your rookie year; he's been awesome all year and will probably win Rookie of the Year.
Speaking of Bonderman, I'll trade you him and Monroe and a prospect for Miguel Tejada, if you want. I think it would be a great deal for both of us.

Trust me, there aren't too many Orioles fans sweating a loss to the Tigers tonight or this weekend. Or losses to any other teams for the rest of the year.
The Orioles are a sorry lot, not the fans.
Thank God the twins and sox both lost. This gives us breathing room. If we sweep the Orioles today, well that makes it all the merrier when the Sox come into town. All we need is to really take one out of three games from them and I feel like we'll be ok.
5 games against Kansas City, and 3 games against Toronto (who have been declining) makes us much SAFER considering the Sox close their season against the twins and have a fairly tough series against Cleveland before that. We probably need 6 wins to get in and maybe 8 wins to secure the division.
I just want *wild card minimum* to have something to brag to my students about.
Who would have thought the Sox would be the ones on the seat of elimination though, and not the Twins?
